Residential treatment utilizes an intensive curriculum in which patients delve into the affect their substance use disorder has had not just on their lives, but also on their family, friends, employer, and co-workers. Special group sessions are provided on topics such as stress management, decision making, communication, and anger management anger replacement. Treatment is self-paced and lengths of stay are based on individual needs and progress of the patient. The Area Substance Abuse Council is a private, nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. ASAC is licensed by the Iowa Division of Health Promotion, Prevention, and Addictive Behaviors to provide prevention and treatment services to combat the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
