The Barnabas Project began as a ministry of the South Chicago Evangelical Covenant Church to provide housing and support for women and children who had been living in abusive situations. The ministry expanded with a partnership with Jesus People USA Evangelical Covenant Church to operate Leland House, a transitional housing and support program for formerly abused women and their children. Other ministries were added, including: Leslie Place, which serves women recently released from prison; Edgewater Lighthouse, serving the mentally ill on Chicago's northside; and YMEN, a ministry to the youth in the Lawndale neighborhood.

I have been sober from my addiction since 05/21/16. I recently moved in with my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years roughly2 months ago. I am scheduled to have my left hip replaced on05/13/20. I have discussed over the past year with my significant other i would like to-be 100 percent sober at this point in my life, but she continues to bring alcohol home daily. I’m totally fine not drinking, but whenever i ask her to stop bringing home things i like she does it anyway. Whenever she drinks with her friends which is Frequently she messages me to move out and when she comes home she does the same. I don’t feel comfortable being in this home even though i pay rent. I’m doing my best by putting structure in place fir myself and her children, but i feel unappreciated when she drinks and I’d prefer to move out and focus on my hip recovery and god andmove on with my life. Im very well educated, but right now i need some assistance and guidance. Thank you.
