Helping Hands Against Violence is staffed by 6 paid employees and owns and operates 2 facilities: an emergency domestic violence and sexual assault shelter; and a transitional housing program for young women ages 16-24 who have been victims of crime (sex abuse, sexual assault, physical abuse, domestic violence, parental neglect and/or abandonment) and would otherwise be homeless. Many clients come from other parts of the state or out of state, 95% are very low income, and 25% are Hispanic/Latino. Helping Hands also provides community education on domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and elder abuse. The agency's mission is to empower victims; raise public awareness about these types of crimes; maintain ongoing training for volunteers and staff; and keep a strong volunteer base.

Mission Statement: Helping Hands Against Violence is dedicated to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking by focusing attention on said issues through education, outreach and most importantly, DIRECT SERVICES. We are supported by the United Way Foundation in addition to other funding.
