They host at least 5 major Outreach Events to the poor and needy each year and a couple of fund-raising activities. There are many opportunities for the community to be involved in serving the poor and needy.

Mission Statement: The Redwood Gospel Mission, in the grace and power of Jesus Christ, mobilizes our community to minister to the needy so that lives are transformed. Redwood represents the geographical area of our service community, the “Redwood Empire.” We serve all of Sonoma County; also reaching out to the surrounding counties which have no Rescue Ministries. Gospel is from the Latin word for good news. It is our desire to bring the good news of Christ’s salvation to everyone we serve and to bring the good news of hope for an improved life through the various services we provide. Mission is not intended to imply simply a building. We define “Mission” as a purpose or aim. It is our objective or Mission, that lives would be transformed through mobilizing and equipping people in this community to minister to the needy, thus fulfilling the Gospel imperative “For in as much as ye did it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it unto Me.”

Thank you for clarifying the REAL purpose of Redwood Gospel Mission: it is to get the poor and homeless to become christians: to convert us. When you get a bed at The Rose, you are forced to attend bible study for an hour a day. Forced: or you lose your bed there. This is not spirituality: it is spiritual abuse. They have no respect for clients' beliefs or non-belief unless they are already RABIDLY christian. They let believers stay longer, give them more privileges, and are much, much nicer to them. They have no comprehension of the fact that people would have a lot more respect for them and their beliefs and their claims of being 'christian' if they made bible study OPTIONAL and treated non-believers or people who have different beliefs with respect. In reality, this is what christianity truly is: a lack of regard for the viewpoints of others. If you don't share their delusional fantasy beliefs in god and the supernatural, you are evil and damned. It's just that many churches nowadays try to sugar-coat that message, whereas the Redwood Gospel Mission shelters, they don't hide their loathing and lack of respect for other points of view. One of their bible study teachers actually told us, 'You hear people talking about 'tolerance' for other beliefs, and other lifestyles. But you should NOT be tolerant: of drinkers, adulterers, homosexuals, or other religious beliefs or non-belief.' Yikes. If you stay there, good luck hanging on to your mind.

I am disabled and my arthritis is in my knees and in the sockets of both arms. I'm in pain everyday all day long but my mind is never on that, my faith in God Almighty is where my mind is rerouted and that is what takes away most of my pain. Drug addiction has played a big part of my life but today it doesn't Jesus Christ My SAVIOR has taken those issues away. Becoming a stronger Christian is my goal today it is that, that is going to help me be that Virtual Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt that Christ can use me right where I stand today instead of me looking back at my past beating myself up for what I should've, could've.
